The 6k dollar problem T.I.L.T.
Tittie Illness Losing Time
So i haven't been posting any blogs lately due to my tilting issues. In order to properly explain the problem, I'll update you what has happened since my last post.
My family was really pissed about me going to Vegas. I was on the verge on not going but there are some things that you personally need to do, and I felt like this was one of them. I have a strong passion to get better and better in poker and I just couldn't let them tell me what to do all my life. I'm 19 and they were giving me every reason not to go; making me feel like shit, making me feel like I do nothing with my life, and telling me that I owe my parents for everything they have done for me. It was great, they made me absolutely hate them and they said, "we are only telling you this because we care about you". Haha... I'm over it now... but I grew up differently than everyone else. If you love your child you shouldn't punish them because you love them. The real reason they punish them is because they need power / they want it their way... whatever
Some of the top reasons on why I shouldn't go:
They are gamblers, gamblers are bad
They can rob you
They can kidnap you
Vegas is run by the mafia
You can get killed if you win in the casino... "OK MOM"... *5 stories of a people getting killed*
You never know (times 1000)
You're addicted to poker
You are selfish
I was really ticked off because my brother (who is 28 told on me to my parents) This is when the tilting started to happen. I don't play under stress but I guess I was too mad to stop playing.
I'm really glad I went though. Although the flight was free, the things learned were lifechanging, and I had a ton of fun, I was put on tilt just by the way they played. I'm not sure if it was that you have to be rediculously loose and aggressive in the higher limits or they just had a different playing style.
With all of these factors, some bad beats, and a dryspell I was down 6k before tonight. I finally recovered 1k of it and was playing great tonight. I do have a weakness though. I think the reason I was put so much on tilt by their play was becase I can't put people on tilt. When I try to do this I put myself on tilt and the affects make me feel like I don't know how to play poker.
---------------------
Things I did in Vegas
-Watched different people play in the wsop
-Saw a ton of pros
-Ate at the Rio buffet
-Played party poker
-Gambled at the Wynne
-Was served alcohol while gambling
-Didn't get carded once
-Played in a house tournie
-learned about the squeeze play
-Sweated my ass off from Vegas's 115 degree weather
In the house tournie that we had I came in absolute last. I will admit I can't play live whatsoever. I was on tilt that I wasn't aware of at the time. I can't really judge how much is in the pot to how much they are betting. I also can't think as clearly live. I was probably the worst person there at the time. There was 1 guy who didn't even play poker and came in second. No one knew how he played and so they couldn't play against him. This is my style and I highly doubt that he was the least favorite to win, or even close to it. MOON came out on top tho (happy moon? >:P)
Anyway thats my story. I'll try to keep the posts comming but sometimes its just harder to post than others :/.

Just like most people, your parents seem to have NO idea what poker is all about. People are always afraid of what they don't understand - so you are going to have to tough things out man. In your family only you really know what is going on in your life and you ultimately will have to make the right decisions for yourself.

PS - Those reasons not to go to Vegas are hilarious! Can you even imagine Moon and Kwicky trying to kidnap anyone?? They can barely drive to the grocery store to get food. lololol.

My parents, and Paul's too, were very anti-poker until they realized how much money we were making, and now they are very supportive. It took a while.
