I always like to relate things to life. Every aspect of poker resembles, or I trick myself into believing, an aspect of life. I don't want to go into too much detail but some of the main point are:

Poker is a sport: Well I don't believe it is but... in the terms of, you can't be good without constant practice, motivation, and love for the game it's exatly the same.

Poker is all about image: Just like in real life image is everything. It doesn't matter if you're awesome at poker. If you appear to suck at poker you're not going to get any respect at all.

Poker is probability: Almost every person I know likes to look at things, remember all the good or bad things and then they come up with a skewed analysis. Poker and life are about odds. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you get sqrewed.
